Parents, thank you once again for supporting your children in the band program. Your support is crucial for the students to continue to progress in music and color guard, so please do not think your assistance and support is not needed now that marching band is over. The second semester is in many ways more complicated because instead of focusing on one group, marching band, we now split up into concert band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, and winter guard. We have major fundraisers scheduled for February and March, so please do your part to support the Band Boosters so that we have the funds to make a quality program for your child. The month of March will be especially busy for all parts of the program, so please make sure to calendar all rehearsals and performances so that we don’t have conflicts with the progress we need to make.
One thing that you could start on now is finding a donation item for our Silent Auction for the Taste of Los Altos fundraising event. We need a large selection of new and high quality items for our guests to bid on. Please contact your workplace, favorite retailer, or favorite restaurant to see if they would be willing to donate an item to benefit the students. Remember that most businesses need 2-3 months of notice in order to be able to make a donation, so that means now is the time to approach them for our March 6th Taste of Los Altos. Some of our best items in the past years have been a signed Lakers basketball, tickets and parking to a Dodgers or Angels game, a weekend RV getaway, gently used computers, wine baskets, and gift cards. Whatever you can do to help find great items for our Silent Auction, it will be appreciated.
