Notes from the Director
I hope everyone had a relaxing and joyful Thanksgiving break over the past week. Time with friends and family away from the commitments of school work is important for our overall health.
This week on Thursday, we will celebrate the end of our marching season with a meal, memories, and our annual slide show. Students who were in the marching band this fall are requested to attend so that we can continue the band bonding that began so many months ago to create the wonderful organization we have now. We will order pizza for this event and ask students to pay a nominal $3 each to help cover these costs. The Band Boosters will supply our drinks. Our desserts are supplied by you! We have a dessert contest each year, with prizes for Best Looking, Best Tasting, and Overall Best Dessert. To qualify, these must be homemade desserts, not store bought. It’s a fun night for our students, so we would like all students to attend. Parents, this is a night just for students, so please drop them off and pick them up at the beginning and end of the event.
With just 3 weeks until the end of the semester, there is a lot going on. Next week is our annual Winter Concert, which will be quite a bit different from what we have normally done. Students will meet briefly on Monday and Thursday of next week to work on our combined piece that uses all the students in the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Percussion classes. Please make sure to attend these rehearsals so that we can all be on the same page (literally!) in the concert on Friday of next week. The week following our concert is finals week, so we are almost finished with the fall semester. Please make sure to get all missing work turned in to all of your classes. If you are missing any work in a band class or would like to retake a quiz for a higher grade, please make arrangements with Mr Laging right away. The only thing holding you back from a higher grade is you!
