Notes from the Director

We had a great week last week! The kids finished learning the entire first song for the field show and performed it at the football game on Friday against Covina. It was a very good first performance, and now that we have that down, it’s on to the next song this week.

The Los Altos Band Boosters thanks everyone who participated in our Taco Nazo fundraiser and who volunteered for our concessions booths at the football game. Your participation in what we do helps tremendously in achieving the financial goals of the Band Boosters so that we can provide great experiences for our students. Don’t get left out of your own experiences as parents, and volunteer for our next football game on September 6th!

Back to School Night is this Thursday. Since I have met most of you and explained the program to you, we typically have rehearsal that night, as planned. Parents, you will be given enough information by Los Altos to be able to attend the short visits with your child’s teachers, so please send them to the band rehearsal so that we can have a productive rehearsal.

We have the only scheduled away football game this week against the Wilson Wildcats. It’s always a special game, and the Entertainment Unit will be there to cheer the Conquerors on to another victory and the Wheel! We have an earlier call time of 5:15 PM so that we can load our equipment in a truck to go with us for our Battle of the Bands with the Wilson Band immediately following the football game. Once we return to Los Altos, students will put away all equipment before being dismissed. For the game, students are encouraged to dress Conqueror Crazy and wear school colors. Any face makeup or clothing should not interfere with their ability to play their instruments or perform during the game. Students are expected to ride the bus to and from Wilson HS and to remain with the band for the entire game and Battle of the Bands. Only Marching Band students are required to attend this game.
