Notes from the Director

This is our final newsletter of the school year. Please make sure that you are where you need to be for all rehearsals and the graduation performance. All musicians are required to participate in the graduation performance, and it is a portion of your final grade in the class.

Dress in concert black for the performance, but do look at the weather to see if you will need a jacket. The stadium can get quite chilly after sunset, so you may want another layer to keep warm. No blankets, please.


Senior finals are this week, and next week are finals for all other students. Please prepare for your finals in all classes so that you can end the year strong.


The new Band Council will meet on Friday, May 24th, to prepare the room and materials for our summer activities. We will eat lunch together at Pizza Co. and then return to the band room for some initial training. The Band Council will meet regularly during the summer on at least one of the rehearsal days each week. We will determine the exact schedule at this first meeting. It is critical for our success that all attend.



Your child should bring home a separate summer newsletter that outlines our summer activities and the commitments your child has with the band. Please make sure that your family calendar includes our activities so that your child has every opportunity to learn and succeed.


Summer Dates Summary

May 28-July 4, Wednesday and Friday Rehearsals

1st two weeks, both days 1:30-4:00 PM

All other weeks, Wednesday 1:30-4:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Hacienda Heights 4th of July Parade, 7:30 AM Meet at school. Return to Los Altos by 12 noon.

Band Camp

July 24-26, July 29-August 2

8:00 AM - 4:00 PM every day. Wear athletic shorts, athletic shoes, a light colored t-shirt, hats, sunglasses, sun block of SPF 30 minimum. Bring instruments, dot books, pencils, lots of water, food for lunch/snacks.

Family BBQ, Parent Meeting, Band Performance

August 2, 6 PM, all students and parents required
